1. What is an FPOA?
FPOA™ stands for Field Programmable Object Array™. It is a field re-programmable device made up of hundreds of very high-performance, medium-grained “objects”. These objects are 16 bit configurable machines, such as an Arithmetic Logic Units (ALU), Multiply-Accumulators (MAC), or Register Files (RF). Each object operates deterministically at 1GHz and is attached to the object array via a multitude of 1 GHz programmable interconnect.
The Arrix™ Family of FPOAs have been designed for image and video processing (image filtering, video compression, etc.) as well as Digital Signal Processing (Fast-Fourier transforms, Finite-Impulse Response filters, Polyphase filters, etc.). Products are available from speeds of 1 GHz down to 600 MHz and in either RoHS or standard eutectic packaging. The Arrix family is supported by a wide variety of IP cores and basic building blocks to aid the designer in achieving a fast time-to-market. The FPOA architecture is supported by a commercially available design flow from Mentor Graphics*. Download Arrix FPOA Architecture Guide
